Abstract

The facility layout problem (FLP) significantly affects factory productivity and economy, but most layout design processes are still manual. Bridging the gap between automated layout design and its practical application in factory design is a significant challenge. To address this challenge, we present an approach in this paper that analyzes whether automated layout design processes can achieve the expected impact on layout design. Our approach involves a sensitivity analysis that is based on mathematically defined factors and variables to meet the relevant goals of factory design. We apply this approach to a test use case scenario.
