Abstract
ABSTRACT This article provides a comprehensive examination of the histories and contexts of various quilombola communities in the Amazon. It underscores the ongoing struggles for identity, territorial rights, and traditional lifestyles. The significance of agroforestry and sustainable resource management for the subsistence and cultural preservation of these communities is emphasized. The article delves into the archaeology of quilombos, highlighting the role of material culture studies in filling documentary gaps and revealing the everyday lives of enslaved Africans in the Amazon. It also addresses contemporary challenges, including urbanization and the complexities of land regularization processes in Brazil.
