Abstract

During new product development, the process of selecting and conducting testing activities is of vital importance for both product maturity enhancement as well as test economics. To date, there are only few approaches providing quantitative decision support on test selection. In the present paper, a new methodology for prioritizing testing activities during test planning based on uncertainties in technical risk assessment is proposed. By analyzing prevailing uncertainties in risk assessment using the FMEA method, quantitative decision support for test case prioritization can be provided. The methodology is based on the common methodological framework for uncertainty modeling as well as recent approaches using Dempster-Shafer theory of evidence.
