Abstract

The oxidative degradation of valine is known to proceed through a methylmalonate semialdehyde intermediate to succinyl-CoA. Good evidence suggests that at least one C 3 intermediate is involved in the conversion of methylmalonate semialdehyde to succinyl-CoA. However, the details of this conversion, at least in higher organisms, remain unclear.
