Abstract

Following the path of Josep Pla with Homenots, in the 1960s and 1970s several series of interviews with cultural figures happened at the same time in Catalonia. Baltasar Porcel published interviews in Serra d’Or, Robert Saladrigas in Destino, Lluis Busquets in El Correo Catalan and Montserrat Roig and Joaquim M. Puyal had popular TV interview programs (Personatges and Voste pregunta) on the Catalan channel of Television Espanola. Salvador Espriu, Josep Pla and Merce Rodoreda also appeared in the Spanish TV program A fondo and Antoni Ribas produced the film Catalans universals. This article aims to map all these initiatives as a form of “laybook of saints” for a culture that, having survived the toughest years of the dictatorship, at that point needed new reference names to face a time of profound renewal towards a hypothetical normalization.
