Abstract

The invasion of Ukraine by Russian troops in late February 2022 brought the world to the danger of a new polarity: Russia vs. Western countries led by the NATO bloc (North Atlantic Treaty Organization). Historical factors and the geographical importance of Ukraine to Russia as opposed to the sense of danger that Western nations see its territorial expansion towards Eastern Europe makes the solution to the conflict increasingly complex. Faced with this complex situantion, the western nations has been adopting solutions to try to stop the Russian advance without the use of NATO’s troops in support of the Ukrainian Army. This article seeks to observe the strategies adopted by Western countries, focusing on NATO members, through the analysis of the modern Cluasewitzian trinity.
