Abstract

The ultraviolet radiation flux measured over hourly time intervals is used to study the variation over a four-year period. The monthly average total radiation ranged from 859 watt-hours per square meter in December to a value of 7772 in July. The average radiation flux based on the monthly hours of record had a 3.5 to 15.1 watts per square meter range. The amount and type of cloud cover significantly affected the total monthly radiation and during this period the ratio of maximum to minimum monthly total radiation varied from 1.03 to 1.54. An Angström form of relationship between ultraviolet radiation and hours of bright sunshine is developed.
