Abstract

Rotational isomeric relaxations are observed in methyl and ethyl formates using the plano-concave ultrasonic resonator method. Analysis of ultrasonic absorption spectra in the 0.1-2 MHz range and over the temperature range from 10° to 50°C yields activation energies Δ H * = 9.9 and 8.9 kcal/mol. and energy differences Δ H = 2.4 and 2.2 kcal/mol for methyl and ethyl formates.
