With public health education, accurate methods of diagnosis and the presence of efficacious antimicrobial therapy, typhoid fever does not cause the dreaded mortality rate or disastrous complications of the past. Yet severe cases of typhoid fever are occasionally encountered.The following case report is an example of an overwhelming infection due to Salmonella typhosa from which the patient recovered.
