Types of Slang in Windah Basudara's Speech on Youtube Uploaded January 2023

This research is field research aiming to describe the use of slang among teenagers in Pidie. The method used was descriptive-analytical. The data came from Acehnese-speaking teenagers from various social environments in Pidie, Aceh. Data collection was carried out using uninvolved conversation, interviews with inducement technique, recording and note-taking techniques. The data were then analyzed using qualitative analysis techniques that consisted of several stages, namely selecting, identifying, classifying, reducing, presenting data, and drawing conclusions. The results showed that teenagers in Pidie use several types of slang: (a) basic word slang, (b) affix, (c) reduplicated slang, (d) abbreviated slang, (e) slang of crosses, (f) reversal, (g) slang from foreign languages, (h) slang resembling a foreign language, (i) euphemism slang, (j) dysphemism slang, (k) code-mixing slang, (l) pun slang, and (m) crossbred slang. This study aims to analyze the use of slang as a non-formal language variety in the dialogue of the film “Big Family”. The focus of the study includes the forms of slang, their functions, and the factors influencing their use. The method used was descriptive qualitative, using listening and note-taking techniques for film dialogue containing slang. The results showed nine types of slang, consisting of slang, abbreviations, and foreign language borrowings. Slang is the most dominant form used in the film's dialogue. The use of slang serves to create a relaxed and friendly communication atmosphere, express the speaker's emotions, mark the social identity of the group, and streamline speech. Factors influencing the use of slang include the informal communication situation, the age and social background of the characters, the influence of media and globalization, and the purpose of the communication. Thus, the dialogue in the film “Big Family” represents the use of slang that reflects the linguistic reality of modern society.

This article entitled “The Use of Slang among American Youths as Related to The rise of Hip Hop Culture: A Sociolinguistics Analysis”. This research focuses on the types of slang commonly used by American youths and the influence of hip hop on slang use among American youths.This research belongs to descriptive qualitative research as a method. The subject of this research is rap song lyrics, utterances in slang in America YouTube video and Ellen Show: On Fleek Episode as well as the Urban Dictionary slangs. Then, the objects of this research are the use of slang. The researcher collected the data through the utterances in the rap song lyrics, movie and video, and also slangs in Urban Dictionary.The results of this analysis show that the type of slang used among American youths are divided into two types. They are based on use and word formation. Meanwhile the use of slang among American youths is related to the rise of hip hop culture influence which brought by some of rap song. The slang contained in rap song lyrics are spread easily by the massive consumption of social media and enlighten highly by the report of conventional media.

The rapid development of communication and information technology in the digital era has brought significant changes in communication patterns and language use, including the use of slang among public figures such as Jerome Polin. This study aims to analyze the use of slang by Jerome Polin with a focus on the types of slang used, the context of its use, and its implications in public communication. The research method used is a qualitative analysis of social media content published by Jerome Polin. The research findings show that the use of slang by public figures can attract followers but also raises concerns about its influence on the development of Indonesian language and culture. The results of this study provide new insights into the phenomenon of slang use among public figures and its influence on the development of Indonesian language, which reflects the dynamics and creativity in language use in the digital era.

ABSTRACTSlang is one of language variation. It consists of word, phrase and sentence that related to informal interaction and used in informal situation. The aim of this study are to find out the types of slang used by the lecturer and the students, the factors causing the use of slang, and the reasons of using slang. This study used qualitative descriptive method to collect the data from the lecturer and the students of English Education Department in University of Muhammadiyah Luwuk. To collect the data, the researcher observed and recorded all conversation in the classroom and also used interview for getting the data from the lecturer and the students.The findings show that the lecturer and the students employed fresh and creative type, compounding type, imitative type, and clipping type in communicating in the classroom. The result of the analysis also shows that social status, age, social distance or familiarity and situation are the factors that affecting the use of slang in the classroom. Moreover, the participants also revealed the reasons of using slang, they are to reduce seriousness, to induce either friendliness, for ease social interaction, to enrich the language, to be different, for the delight, to imitate and joke.

Previous research stated that many millennials are comfortable in applying the use of slang in their daily communication. However, there is difficulty among the elderly about the use of slang that makes them face obstacles in knowing the meaning behind the slang used. Therefore, this research has an objective to investigate what kind of slang words used by them on their Instagram account. This research is kind of descriptive qualitative research using observation method, that wants to examine the slang words used by 15 students of English Language Education, Ganesha University of Education on Instagram especially from Instagram story feature. The findings indicate that it exists four types of slang used by Students of English Language Education on Instagram story, namely fresh and creative with total number of slangs is 12; imitative is six; for acronym, the total number of slangs used is three; and clipping with total number of slangs is 10. It indicates that mostly the slang used is type of fresh and creative and the most rarely used in flippant.

The inventiveness of teenagers—including those in West Sumatra—is what leads to the diversity in language usage. Abbreviations and acronyms have a role in the creation of slang. The purpose of this study is to characterize the different types of slang, their definitions, and the variables that affect their usage or emergence. The research employs a descriptive qualitative methodology that involves the use of skilled listening and engagement strategies to collect data, as well as recording and note-taking tools. data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion-drawing are the steps in the data analysis process. The results of data analysis show that the use of slang by Gen Z in Padang City has two forms of slang, namely abbreviations and acronyms, slang with a positive meaning is 14 data, in general the slang is an abbreviation of several regional names, while slang with a negative meaning is 15. In general, slang is an abbreviation of the words sarcasm, insults, insults and ridicule. Factors in the use of slang by Gen Z in West Sumatra are social factors, and developments in the times that are increasingly developing, including being considered modern slang, and keeping up with current developments.

This study deals in the slang word analysis in Avril Lavigne song lyrics “Head Above Water” album. This study aimed to identify the types of slang word found in Avril Lavigne song lyrics “Head Above Water” album, to find out the meaning of slang word in Avril Lavigne song lyrics “Head Above Water” album, to analyze the slang word which are realized in Avril Lavigne song lyrics “Head Above Water” album. Descriptive qualitative research was applied in this study. The data of research were taken from Avril Lavigne song lyric “Head Above Water” album, 74 words found in this song. The data were analyzed by identifying the song into four types of process, classifying the word in each type of slang, analyze the data into the slang word. It was found that there were four types of slang in selected Avril Lavigne song lyrics “Head Above Water” album namely blending, coinage, clipping, and compounding. The writer found the most widely types of slang namely clipping among words of slang in selected 8 songs lyrics of Avril Lavigne “Head Above Water” album. The researcher was realized that the words where the slang word which was found in Avril Lavigne song lyrics “Head Above Water” album by reading all the lyrics in detail and analyzing the word by trying find the correct word or the real meaning, then the researcher can decide the word was called the slang word.Key words: Analysis, Slang Word, Avril Lavigne Song Lyrics

Drawing on the classic media theory of uses and gratifications, this paper comparatively analyzes the uses of YouTube and the rewards obtained by consumers and content of this video sharing platform. The aim of this research is two-fold: 1. to identify the main uses and gratifications that determine consumers and content creators to use YouTube, and 2) to examine the reasons behind the decision to become a content creator on YouTube. Based on a qualitative research method, the paper highlights how YouTube is used from the perspective of consumers and content creators and the types of needs it gratifies. The research consists of 20 in-depth interviews with YouTube consumers and content creators from Romania. While for content consumers YouTube is mainly a means of relaxation and information, for content creators this platform becomes a source of recognition and social validation. The study also indicates that vlogging can provide job-specific gratifications. Moreover, the research reveals essential aspects behind the decision to become a content creator.

This paper is entitled Analysis of Slangs Used by Characters in Movie Script “I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell”. The aims of this study are to identify and classify based on the types of slang word, this paper also described the context of situation of slang used in the movie script I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell. The data source was taken from the movie script I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell (2009). The data collection was conducted through library research method and note taking technique. The first step was done through reading attentively, noting the slang word, and classifying based on the types of slang and context of situation. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive qualitative method with the theory of Allan and Burridge (2006) for types of slang and theory of context of situation proposed by Holmes (2013). The result of analysis shows that there are four types of slang used by character in I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell movie script. Meanwhile, for the context of situation there are four components. The meaning behind each slang words and phrases in I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell movie script depends on the context of situation. Besides, the interpretation of meaning takes important roles in the analysis.

Sociolinguistics has a lot of aspects that can be researched. One of the aspects is slang. Slang is vocabulary that is used between people who belong to the same social group and who know each other well. Slang is very informal language. This research mainly discussed about slang in Geek Charming Movie. The purpose of this study is to identify the slangs and to describe the types of slang used in Geek Charming Movie. This study is limited to the main characters in the movie, they are Dylan Schoenfield and Josh Rosen. The writer used descriptive qualitative method by using Bodgan and Biklen J (1992) theory, which consists of four steps: unitization, categorization, explanation, and interpretation. After analizing the data, it is found out that there are three types of slang used by Dylan Schoenfield and Josh Rosen in Geek Charming Movie. The types of slang are public house slang, society slang, slang in public school and university. Those are types of slang according to Eric Partridge (1950). It is important to study slang because the result of this research can be used for further research and help readers to get more knowledge about slang.

This study examines the variables of immediacy, clarity, classroom climate, professionalism, and credibility as they relate to instructors use of slang in the classroom. This investigation advances our understanding of how students perceive an instructor or professor who uses “slang language” while teaching a lesson. While all of these variables will make up the student’s overall perception of the teacher, the study also examines how these results vary depending on the age of the instructor. Thus, the central focus for the present study is how different types of slang are perceived by students when used by instructors of different age. Research participants include students from a large Midwestern university who watched a video of a graduate teaching assistant (GTA) or professor using positive, negative, or no slang while teaching a brief lesson. This research explores the slang words used in the film "fast five" through a descriptive-qualitative approach. The aim is to identify and classify the types of slang present in the movie, utilizing the theory proposed by Allan and Burridge (2006). Data collection involved an observational method, which included watching the film, analyzing the dialogue, reading the film's script, and documenting all slang words used by the characters. The study reveals that there are five types of slang in "Die Hart": fresh and creative (32%), flippant (21%), imitating (7%), acronyms (7%), and clipping (21%). The predominant type is fresh and creative slang. The research suggests that the use of slang fosters familiarity within society and the social environment, but it also highlights the importance of understanding these terms to avoid miscommunication in informal conversations

This research includes a slang analysis of the lyrics of selected songs from Blink-182's "Enema of The State" album. The purpose of this study is to classify the types of slang that appear in the lyrics of Blink-182's album ``enema of the state'' and clarify the meaning of the slang. In this research, the author uses descriptive and qualitative methods. The data source for this research is a selection of Blink-182 song lyrics from the album "Enema of The State." Five types of slang are used in this song: Colloquial slang, pejorative slang, expressive slang, self-deprecatory slang, and vulgar slang. Colloquial slang is the type of slang that appears most often in selected blink-182 songs.

This study discussed about slang utterances found in the movie entitled Brick directed by Rian Johnson. It is interesting to conduct slang research on Brick movie since it is a unique neo-noir movie which portrays teenager’s life that speak in an invented slang in the ‘20s, ’30s, and ‘40s. By using descriptive qualitative method, the purpose of the study is to identify the types of slang appeared in the conversation and to observe the context behind the slang used in Brick movie. The slang data is analyzed based on the types of American Slang theory by Chapman (1988) and by Partridge (1933). To support the analysis of context, the writers used the Ethnography of Speaking by Hymes (1974). Regarding to the research findings, the writers identified that there are three types of slang used by the seven characters in Brick movie script, namely: student slang, primary slang and secondary slang. The most frequently type of slang is secondary slang with total of 12 data. Furthermore, the meaning of each slang utterances is not only based on dictionaries but also based on the context of situation, such as setting, participants, ends, act, key, instrumentalities, norms, and genre. In conclusion, this study showed that there are many aspects of slang which can be analyzed more deeply into several other branches of linguistics, such as sociolinguistic, pragmatic and semantic.
