Abstract

A closed-loop 2-stage multiphase switched-capacitor (MPSC) converter is proposed by variable-phase control (VPC) and pulse-width-modulation (PWM) technique for DC-DC step-up conversion and high-efficiency regulation. In this 2-stage MPSC, 2 voltage doublers are connected in series for boosting voltage gain up to 4 at most. For improving efficiency, the VPC is suggested to realize variable multiphase operation by changing phase number and topological path according to the desired output voltage so as to obtain the more suitable level of voltage gain. Besides, PWM is adopted for the better output regulation to compensate the dynamic error between the practical and desired outputs. Further, the relevant theoretical analysis includes: MPSC model, steady-state analysis, power efficiency, voltage conversion ratio. Finally, the closed-loop VPC-PWM-based MPSC is simulated, and all the results are illustrated to show the efficacy of the proposed scheme.
