Abstract
Generalized two-dimensional (2D) correlation spectroscopy has been applied to the near-infrared (NIR) region to study temperature-dependent dissociation of hydrogen-bonded N-methylacetamide (NMA) in the pure liquid state. Cross peaks in the synchronous and asynchronous FT-NIR correlations spectra suggest that polymeric NMA dissociates into intermediate species such as the dimer first, and then the latter breaks down to the monomer.
