Abstract

The present article deals with research of diffusive saturation of carbon steel and alloyed steel with boron and copper, boron and nickel, and boron and cobalt. The boriding was performed using a powder boriding mixture with major composition [97%(12%am.B + 88%Al2O3) + 3%Na2O.4BF3], alloyed separately with Cu2O, Ni, and Co3O4, and heat treated at a temperature of 1080 K for 5 hours. The thickness of the boride layer, its microstructure and composition, degree of cohesion, and alloying content have been analyzed in details.
