Abstract

ABSTRACT AIM To study the new antifungal active triterpene glycosides of sea cucumber Holothuria (Microthele) axiloga . METHODS Triterpene glycosides from Holothuria (Microthele) axiloga were separated and purified by silica gel chromatography, reversed-phase silica gel chromatography and RP-HPLC. Their structures were elucidated on the basis of chemical evidence, spectral data and chemical reactions. RESULTS Two triterpene glycosides were identified as axilogoside A ( 1 ) and holothurin B ( 2 ). CONCLUSION Axilogoside A ( 1 ) is a new triterpene glycoside, and 2 was isolated from Holothuria (Microthele) axiloga for the first time. They showed considerable antifungal activities (4⩽MIC 80 ⩽16 μg·mL −1 )
