Abstract

Turbulent mixing of uniform gas flows in the presence of a longitudinal p ressu re gradient is considered . The equations of the turbulent boundary l ayer reduce to " laminar" form with the assumption of a Prandtl mixing length. Similari ty var iables are introduced with which the considerat ions of loc~d s imi lar i ty formulated in [1] are extended to the present case. The calculated dependence of velocity at the flow int~erface on the Mach number M e at the upper boundary of the mixing zone for isoenerget ic mixing with a gas at res t is compared with the calculations of Korst [2] and Abramovich [3] and with the approximations of Nash [4].
