Abstract

This paper deals with further developments of the kinetic modelling of the cellular dynamics of tumors interacting with an active immune defence system in the presence of cytokine signals. The contents is developed in the framework of the so-called cellular kinetic theory which leads to a modelling based on methods which are similar to those of nonlinear statistical mechanics. The model proposed here takes into account spontaneous activation of tumor cells and the effects of medical therapies aimed at deactivating the tumor and/or activating the immune system. The simulation presented shows that the possible scenarios that can be reproduced by the model are those experimentally observed.
