Abstract
The patch method of testing for specific hypersensitiveness to tuberculin has been in use since 1908.<sup>1</sup>With the introduction of the Vollmer patch test, in 1937,<sup>2</sup>there has been new interest in this technic. In the last few years many comparative studies of the patch test and intradermal (Mantoux) technics have been made. Reports vary considerably as to the relative efficiency of the two methods in detecting reactors. Some observers<sup>3</sup>have found almost complete correlation between the results obtained with the Vollmer patch test<sup>4</sup>and the Mantoux test with purified protein derivative<sup>5</sup>and with old tuberculin Koch.<sup>6</sup>Others have reported some disparities in the results obtained, having found the Vollmer patch test or patch tests with undiluted old tuberculin antigen either slightly more or slightly less sensitive than the intradermal test with various dilutions of purified protein derivative and
