Abstract

Land use has a critical role in human life. First settlements generally built on the hills or slopes in the beginning of Holocene. These type settlements were providing easy defense and wide agriculture area. Settlements expanded their areas while their population increasing along centuries. As a result of the migration and industrialization, big parts of almost all plains have been covered by the buildings and industry sites especially in west side of the Turkey in the 20 century. First degree soils are most important soil group for the agriculture but they are getting decreasing year by year. Main aim of this article is to point to misusing of agriculture soils in the Turkey and to show Eskisehir as a sample. Eskisehir has become an industry city after 1950's. In addition, military air field built on the plain. Main industry branches are textile, porcelain and food. Recently wide area of the Eskisehir Plain has lost its agricultural features.
