Abstract

ABSTRACT Trimma fishelsoni is a new gobiid fish from the Gulf of Elat, Red Sea. The new species is characterized by a filamentous second dorsal spine in both sexes, 26–28 longitudinal scale rows, 10–12 predorsal scales, 8 segmented dorsal rays, 7–8 segmented anal rays and 15–17 pectoral rays. Scales are present on the cheek and opercle. A key to the Trimma-like species of the Red Sea is given.
