Abstract
A technique is presented for accurate approximation of transfer functions whose impulse responses are finite time duration sine and cosine pulses. By paying attention to the effects of errors in the approximation of hyperbolic functions coth <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">Ts</tex> and tanh <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">s</tex> , an economical synthesis is obtained. The same synthesis can be used for low-error time-delay functions and magnitude functions for bandpasses.
