Abstract
An opening snap is most frequently heard in the presence of acquired mitral or tricuspid stenosis. A normally mobile atrioventricular valve is capable of producing an opening snap when excessive blood flows across it.1-4 This would explain the occasional finding of a tricuspid opening snap in atrial septal defect5,6 and Ebstein's anomaly.7 The purpose of this report is to describe this finding in two patients with severe tricuspid insufficiency secondary to pulmonary hypertension.
