Abstract
This meta-analysis analyzed the effectiveness of interventions for adult sexual violence survivors for symptoms of trauma and depression. Twelve between-group studies (N = 741) were identified that met the inclusion criteria and were included in our analyses. Results showed that the treatment effects of interventions for sexual violence survivors are statistically significant, with large Hedge’s G effect sizes. However, there was significant heterogeneity in effect sizes for treatments compared to alternative treatments. Moderator analyses that examined the number of treatment sessions and treatment format did not significantly influence the treatment effect. Further research is needed to ascertain the impact of various interventions for treating sexual violence.
