Abstract

A case of severe deep overbite (deckbiss) is described, together with a method of treatment commencing in the early mixed dentition and extending over approximately 64 years. Cephalometric analysis demonstrates that marked changes occurred in the dentoalveolar tissues during the first fifteen months of treatment. The improvement in the patient's facial appearance is also shown by serial profile radiography. It is considered that early orthodontic treatment has considerable value in the treatment of severe malocclusions associated with incompatibility of the dental arches.
