Abstract

The research on the debonding of adhesive structural interface is a difficult frontier issue. Based on the transfer matrix method, the acoustic reflection and transmission coefficient expressions in the multi-layer debonding structure under the transverse wave incidence were deduced, the interaction between the ultrasonic wave and the different morphology interfaces was studied, and the influence of incidence angle on the acoustic propagation characteristics was also analyzed. The results showed that the reflection or transmission coefficient method of transverse wave can easily distinguish the interface forms under non-grazing incidence of transverse wave. If the incidence angle of transverse wave is between 0° and 90°, the interface form can also be identified using the longitudinal wave transmission coefficient method. Moreover, if the incidence angle is near the critical angle, the reflection coefficient method of longitudinal wave can also be used to identify the interface form. The research results provide a theoretical basis for the ultrasonic detection of debonding of adhesive structure in experiment.
