Abstract
Usually, the Michelson interferometer used for coherence length measurement is treated in the framework of plane waves. In this paper we take into account the finite lateral extent of the input beam. We demonstrate that imperfect collimation leads to systematic errors in the determination of the spectral bandwidth of a Gaussian beam.
