Abstract

Abstract The transition amplitude between two configurations of the n-dimensional relativistic membrane is written explicitly. Its expression contains coupling terms of order 2n in the ghost fields, despite the fact that the algebra of the gauge transformations is closed in the covariant formalism. The inclusion of these additional coupling terms ensures the BRS invariance of the effective action.
