Abstract

The authors survey in detail the role of the four trace elements in pregnancy, e.g. iron, manganese, magnesium and zinc, with regard to the development of congenital malformations and/or behavioural deficits, either prenatally or postnatally. It is maintained that these trace elements play a vital part during pregnancy and after birth.
