Abstract

Extending a procedure proposed in a previous publication we present a new perturbative treatment of effects of short range order in substitutionally disordered systems. The configurationally averaged single particle Green's function is approximated by expanding the corresponding self-energy. We restrict the discussion to diagonal disorder and in particular discuss electronic properties of a single band alloy. Within the framework of a Gaussian model of disorder we can show that our perturbation expansion is directly related to an expansion in the inverse correlation length, characterising the extension of short range order.
