Abstract

As targeting visitors to a race, ‘Tour de Korea’, this study first discussed how much the visitors would spend on enjoying the event and looked into economic ripple effects of ‘Tour de Korea’. In order to achieve the research goal, the study invited 284 visitors to a survey on their expenditures on watching the race. Findings of the survey have revealed that as for a total expenditure of an individual visiting the ‘Tour de Korea’ in 2014, it appeared to be 132,624 KRW on average. Based on the number, the study investigated economic ripple effects of ‘Tour de Korea’ and came up with these results as follows. In terms of direct/indirect economic ripple effects of ‘Tour de Korea’ by inter-industry analysis, they were reported to be approximately 176 billion 84 million KRW and to be specific about production ripple effect, spillover effect of value added and direct/indirect employment ripple effect, the study confirmed that they would be around 130 billion 94 million KRW, 4.59 billion KRW and 64.3 individuals in total, respectively.
