TOOTH EROSION BY CONSUMPTION OF ENERGY DRINKS

Abstract

We report the clinical case of a 25-year-old male patient, forwarded by the dentist with clinical suspicion of tooth erosion, who reported in the anamnesis "teeth like a swimming pool," emphasizing that he always presented this symptom without discomfort, did not report pain/sensitivity at mastication, and did not use medical drugs but reported stressed life. At physical examination, the posteroinferior teeth presented severe occlusal wear with dentin exposure and loss of dental substance in the cervical region at the vestibular surface of the upper canines and premolars, more evident in the left hemiarch, compatible with tooth erosion. To elucidate the cause, additional questions were asked, and the patient reported consumption of 4 L/wk of energy drinks. The patient was referred for rehabilitation of the dental elements.
