Abstract

I would like to begin the panel discussions regarding tobacco control strategies among communities of color in the United States by providing an overview of tobacco use patterns and behaviors among Asian and Pacific Islander Americans, American Indians and Alaska Natives, Hispanics, and African Americans. This information is presented to provide some highlights of the many issues surrounding tobacco use and control in each community and provide context for the Tobacco Control Capacity Index for Communities of Color being discussed throughout the panel’s presentations.
