Abstract
An interesting development arising from the Legal Education and Training Review (LETR) Report is the possibility that the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA), in moving to outcomes as the basis for legal education and training in the future, may dispense entirely with prescription of pathways to qualification. No decision has been made; rather it is a possibility which will be considered as part of the SRA’s post-LETR Report review of legal education and training. This article presents some initial thoughts on the possible consequences of dispensing with prescribed pathways, arising from the author’s own research into the career intentions of law degree students, from the perspective of those who might intend to qualify as a solicitor.
