Abstract

This is a prospective – observational study, hospital-based surveillance for acute gastroenteritis (AGE) conducted for period of November 2020 to February 2021. Total 100 cases of AGE < 5 years of age admitted at G.G.H Jamnagar, pediatric department in period between November 2020 to February 2021. Out of 100 cases, 79 cases 8 weeks to 2 years of age group enrolled in study for Case-control evaluation according to inclusion and exclusion criteria. Level of Dehydration determined on Admission according to IMNCI Guideline. A case-control evaluation method will be used to evaluate the effectiveness of RV5 (Rotasiil) in the 8 weeks to 24-month-old participants. Vaccination information collected from Mamta card/ vaccination card. Severity of AGE plotted against Rota vaccinated and Un vaccinated Group followed by CHI SQUARE Test applied which shows 2 =7.58 and p value = 0.02 which is statistically signicant, which indicating that Rota Vaccine having Less major Impact on Mild to Moderate AGE, whereas there is denitive decrease in severe AGE cases among the rota vaccinated children
