Abstract

To the Editor: Tinea capitis (TC) is the most common dermatophyte infection of childhood, usually affecting early school–aged children, and appears to be increasing in prevalence.1-5 We investigated the prevalence of TC, its treatment patterns, and attributable treatment costs. We retrospectively identified patients with TC (ICD-9 code of 110.0) using MarketScan research databases, which include encounter data for the pharmacy and medical services of more than 3 million US employees and dependents.
