Abstract

Cosmic ray neutron data obtained at Syowa Base, Antarctic, are analyzed for studies on characteristics of the four cosmic ray unusual increases, which occurred on May 4, 1960 and during November 1960, by comparing with cosmic ray data from the other stations in the polar regions. Investigations of the enhanced intensity, the onset time and the decay time of the cosmic ray increase give definite differences between the northern and the southern polar regions, differing from event to event. Such differences suggest that the polar type increase is not oniy raised by the solar cosmic ray particles distributed isotropically in the interplanetary space but also by the anisotropic particles uniformly deflected from their initial emitted direction due to the solar magnetic cloud.
