Abstract

A time-dependent mean-field theory of the nonlinear electric field response of a charge-density wave pinned by impurities is implemented. It is found that above a threshold electric field ${E}_{T}$, the charge-density wave moves with velocity $v\ensuremath{\propto}{(E\ensuremath{-}{E}_{T})}^{\frac{3}{2}}$. Some general discussion of the behavior as a function of dimension is included.
