Abstract

Although Rh/Y2O3/ZrO2 showed the highest three-way catalytic (TWC) performance under static condition, a decrease in the activity was observed by operating under the dynamic lean/rich perturbation condition. On the contrary, the TWC performance of Rh/Pr6O11/ZrO2 under the dynamic condition was higher than that under the static one, whereas Rh/Pr6O11/ZrO2 was still the worst active catalyst. In situ XANES analysis revealed that Rh species supported on Pr6O11/ZrO2 are highly stable in oxidizing state even in lean/rich perturbation, while not stable in catalytically active reducing state for Rh/Y2O3/ZrO2. The effect of the averaged Rh0/Rh3+ ratio on the TWC performance was discussed.
