Abstract

Dmitry Kedrin (1907–1945), a second-generation Russian Modernist, remains almost entirely unknown in the English language. That this master craftsman was almost certainly murdered is not what makes him an ideal subject for this miniature study in literary history. While Kedrin’s very substantial gift spanned both lyrical and dramatic poetry; he is perhaps best known, and most interesting for having dwelt in myth and history, his work with folk and epic materials.
