Abstract
Aedes d&in&is was described by Leicester (1908) f ram specimens taken from water in the hollow of a tree in the jungle at Ampang, Federated Malay States. Barraud (1924) described the female and male from India, and added the variety fn~ze&, which differs from the type in having a golden-scaled scutum in the female as well as in the male, Later (1934) B arraud listed briefly the characters of the larva. Recent collections by entomologists on military duty in the Philippine Islands have resulted in the finding of three dark-legged Fidayas which are closely related to dissi??ziZis but nevertheless are distinct enough to justify their description as new species.
