Abstract

AbstractA dual‐polarized horn antenna with good port‐to‐port isolation is designed at Ka‐band and fabricated using three‐dimensional (3D) printing technology, and the measured results are discussed with simulation data. In order to achieve high port‐to‐port isolation with dual polarization, a metallic via is inserted into the coupled port, which is placed on top of the broad wall input of the horn antenna. The proposed horn is fabricated with the help of a low‐cost atomic diffusion additive manufacturing (ADAM) 3D printing technique using 17‐4PH stainless steel material. The measured reflection parameter at port1 (direct port) is better than 15 dB over Ka‐band, while the measured reflection parameter at port2 (coupled port) is better than 10 dB over 27–29 GHz, the isolation parameter (S21) between the ports is better than 50 dB over Ka‐band, and the cross‐polarization level is at least 30 dB below the copolarization.
