Abstract

Shirman, B. 2000. Three component magnetic anomaly maps of Israel. Isr. J. Earth Sci. 49: 1‐7. The results of two ground-component geomagnetic surveys carried out in Israel during 1983–1985 and 1993–1995 are presented. Maps of anomaly total field, horizontal and vertical components, and declination compiled from absolute measurements conducted at more than 130 sites during the two surveys are displayed. Some special features of large- and medium-scale anomalies are outlined. A Mediterranean Coast anomaly in declination is identified, which cannot be detected on total-field maps. The accuracy of the map compilation is assessed on the basis of the comparison between the maps of the two surveys.
