Abstract

Thickness vibrations of a piezoelectric plate rotating at a constant angular velocity about its normal are studied using the equations of linear piezoelectricity. The transcendental equation that determines the resonant frequencies is derived for materials with general anisotropy and solved for specific materials of polarized ceramics and rotated Y-cut quartz. The results are useful in the understanding and analysis of plate piezoelectric gyroscopes.
