Abstract

In the first half of the school year, most schools in the US teach about American Indians during Thanksgiving. This national narrative instills pride in some at the expense of others. Concerned with the ways in which American Indians are presented in school, this essay draws from my study looking at students' experiences with learning about American Indians in school.
