Abstract

Abstract In the present work, the thermodynamic properties of the sublimation process in cadmium selenide were discussed. Thermodynamic equation was established on the basis of the classical Maxwell–Boltzmann distribution law, state equation of ideal gas and Clapeyrons equation. Thermogravimetic analysis (TGA) results of CdSe polycrystal powder were obtained at different temperature. It was found that the CdSe evaporation temperature was about 840 °C and the rapid sublimation of this material took place almost at 1100 °C. Furthermore, by using the TGA curves, the parameters such as the activation energy and index value pre-factor in thermodynamic equation were calculated as 21.899 kJ mol−1 and 8.401 × 103 mg mm2 min Pa, respectively. The results were discussed.
