Abstract

This work studies the transient thermoelastic behavior of a rapidly heated thin metal plate. The microscopic two-step heat conduction model is used to determine the temperature distribution across the slab thickness. This transient behavior and thermal performance is considered for the solid metal lattice and the electron gas phases. The effect of different design parameters on the thermal and stress behavior of the plate is investigated.
