Abstract

The investigations carried out in [1-5] of the luminescence properties of solutions of derivatives of thiamine (T) (vitamin BI) made it possible to determine the nature of the lower excited states of its chromophores and the paths of intramolecular energy transfer. It was established that the fluorescence of thiamine in alcoholic solutions is caused by the emission of the pyrimidine (P) chromophore, while the phosphorescence is caused by the emission of the thiazole (T3) chromophore of the vitamin molecule. In this case, the lowest excited singlet and triplet states are states of the S~Z, 7" and T~,~* types.
