Abstract

AbstractThis study was aimed to achieve a form‐stable composite PCM (FS‐CPCM) by incorporating the eutectic mixture of octadecane (OD) and eicosane (EC) with pumice and also investigate thermo‐regulation performance of its cementitious plaster form in lab‐scale cubic unit. The scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and Fourier transform infrared (FT‐IR) analysis results proved the existence of good physicochemical compatibility among the components of FS‐CPCM. The differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) analysis results revealed that the FS‐CPCM had phase change temperature of about 22°C and latent heat of capacity of about 77–78 J/g, respectively. Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and thermal cycling findings demonstrated that it had excellent thermal durability and cycling reliability. Lab‐scale thermal performance of a cubic design plastered with FS‐PCM/cement mortar was also evaluated experimentally. The results showed that the plaster including FS‐CPCM had function of maintaining the interior temperature at comfortable range for a considerable long time.
