Abstract

There is very little published in the literature about the area of overlap between autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and the social deficits seen in ADHD and anxiety disorders. Clinical experience suggests that the differential diagnosis in these cases is challenging and that the implications for children and their families is profound. This session aims to explore some factors that can contribute to the confusion and to provide clinical guidance for both diagnosis and treatment as well as suggestions for further consideration and future study.
