Abstract
AbstractThe following is an edited version of the sermon given at the act of worship for the Royal College of Nursing Congress in April 2003. The congress is the largest annual gathering of nurses in the UK and the RCN is the largest professional nursing organization in the world, with more than 350,000 members. The author reflects on the meaning of Jesus' interaction with the lawyer who came to ‘test’ him, and what Jesus was trying to teach about the essence of being a neighbour, through his parable of the Good Samaritan.
