Abstract

1.1. The decisions of a therapeutic abortion committee operating for 10 years at Marin General Hospital have been reported.2.2. There were 14,961 deliveries in this period, yet only 18 applications were made for therapeutic abortion and only 12 were approved—a ratio of 1 therapeutic abortion to 1,247 deliveries.3.3. The subsequent course and present status of the applicants are noted.4.4. It is felt that such a committee reduces the number of undeserving requests for therapeutic abortion and provides impersonal judgment on the applications.
